Steve -

The Wilwood units a direct replacement for the stock Girling brake master cylinder, no mods needed excepted in plumbing the brake lines. I installed the reservoirs under the dash (easliy checked before every race) and used a small had pump to fill them.

Doug,
I have the Cape International rear disc brakes on my car. I have generally thought that the balance between the front and rear was OK. I don't race my car or really even drive it that hard, but not too long ago I did have an occasion in which I did need to stand on the brakes. While I did not lose control, the rear end did come around on me. Hence my interest in your proportioning valve.

My question is this: Is the adjustment process the Goldilocks method where I just keep trying adjustments with subsequent hard braking until I found a spot I like? Or, is there a process to follow in setting up the balance? Given your experience, I would appreciate knowing your thoughts on this.
Thanks very much!

Oh, and by the way, I think I have told you this before but I have NEVER seen a race car as clean and neatly prepared as yours. Bravo. To too many folks, going racing means I don't have to care about how the car looks. At least under the bonnet or in the cockpit.

I would suggest a new thread, but I expect others are probably like me and would love to see you post a listing of some of your modifications.

Thanks Lin, I appreciate your compliments and enjoyed following the restoration of you car...it's beautiful too. As for adjusting the brake bias, yes I do it old school. I have a large parking lot that's vacant on the weekends where I run my '57 and practice hard stops to accurately step the bias were I like it. This is the only way I've found that is close to race conditions to set the bias, I sometimes adjust to track conditions if needed.

Massimo, I have an Austin Healey 100/4 which also has Dunlop discs all around. They look like a 100S setup but have a two bolt connection to the axle instead of the 100S' four bolt. It could therefore be possible that the person that did the conversion on my car used the 100/6 option. Do you have a photo off the rear setup?
