Where would I look to find the vacuum line connection on the inlet manifold?

It's not on the intake manifold (vacuum advance almost never is on the manifold). Should be a port on the front carb, on the bottom, which is practically impossible to see once the carb is mounted on the engine.

Not on the manifold. It's on the front carb. Underneath -- near the manifold, but on the carb.

Hey, Dick, I've got my carbs on my bench, after a rebuild: here's a pic:

(It's the westward threaded hole, next to the philips head holding the carbs to a backing-board.....)

Here's the vacuum pipe on the set-up on my garage sink. That line has a very small inside diameter -less than 1/16".

yes. These photos should help, starting at the vacuum advance unit. Around/under thermostat housing and through special support clip with rubber grommet. Finally under front carb and into vacuum port.

Depending of course on your definition of "requirement". The engine doesn't care where it is routed (but the factory routing probably is best just because it keeps the line mostly out of the way).

I've got Strombergs on TS18057L and I've never had the advance hooked up. I just plugged the port on the distributor. Where the heck does the line go on this carb setup?

Here's a pic of my routing, on the distributor side. Note the loop for strain relief, allowing the distributor to be adjusted with less strain on the line. Then it follows the fuel line through the rubber grommeted bracket, under the Thermostat housing.

I believe the port should be on top of the front carb, centered over the bore and up against the flange that bolts to the manifold. At least that is where it is on my Stag.

However, not all carbs were drilled for the vacuum advance.

I have a short section of rubber line there, for much the same reason. Also makes it easier to hook up a Mity-Vac, to test the advance.
