Are there any thoughts about adding zinc as we use up oil (to the garage floor)between oil changes. (one sixth of a bottle per qt. of replacement oil)? Or just let it go until the next oil change since its been a while since rebuild?

Hey TH,
Do me a favor and explain to me why you are adding zinc. This is new to me.Is this to break in A new motor or something like that?

Hi Bobby,
Log in.
Go to "Search" at the top of the page.
Check "Austin Healey" on the left.
Do a search for ZDDP "In Subject & body".
Select "Newer than 1 year".

It will bring up a long list of topics on Zinc in motor oil. Actually a Zinc-Phosphorous compound.

TH,
There is likely enough ZDDP in the oil, if it there was enough to start with, that you probably wouldn't need to add any between oil changes. Unless you need to add more than a quart between 2,000 mile oil changes.

I would suggest using the same high Zinc content throughout the life of the engine, not just for break in.
