zenith stromberg cold start adjustment

I've got a 65 TR4 with dual zenith stromberg carbs. When first started in the morning, it runs very rough and won't idle correctly. Once it warms up, it idles smooth and runs smooth. I've tried adjusting the choke, but I must be doing something wrong. What is the correct way to adjust the cold start cable?.

My TR6 has some balance point between opening the throttle and richening the mixture. It does not run smoothly until it warms up. My opinion is most carbureted cars are not efficient until they warm up because of the constant need for modulation of the choke during the warm up. Starting a cold motor with computerized FI is an obvious advantage over the carb's. Personally, I like fiddling with the choke cable and patting the accelerator until the beast warms up.

get the action of the cable such that you have enough throttle speed & choke at the same time, it's a balance getting the cam on the choke at the right point to bring the idle up.

May have to use your foot for throttle, the cold start valves can be tough to adjust. I believe it's a bi-metal spring inside.

Have you seen the article on Buckeye site about them? It may not still be posted, if not I could e-mail a zip copy.

Gary, I don't know what the Buckeye site is, so if you can post a website I will go there and read the article.
