Zenith-Strom Carb

My 78 B, acquired about 6 months ago, has a Zenith Stromberg carb which worked fine until the weather here in good old New Mexico started to change. Now, it is slow to start and hard to turn off: takes a lot of cranking in the AM, and diesels a bunch at the end of the ride. I have a Weber on my 74 Midget, so the Z-S looks like a foreign object to me. Any suggestions on what to do with this gadget, and is there a good Z-S Carb tuning guide I should get my mits on? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Be particularly careful when rebuilding or tuning the Z-S carb on a late model B. One member of our local MG club recently had his restored, Z-S-equipped B catch fire and burn to the ground shortly after leaving his home. The carb float apparently stuck and poured raw gasoline on the exhaust manifold. Haggerty totaled the car and paid him full value--a good reason to go with their insurance policy on collector cars.
