Does anyone have any basic info on tuning these carbs. or an idea of good starting settings for adjustments, everything was taken apart to clean them and now i realize i have never fully tuned them from scratch. . i do have carb sync tools and all that but have never really used them yet . any help would be useful or webpages to suggest. . thanks everyone

My basic rebuild kit came with simple one page instructions which were all I needed to get them very close.

yea unfortunatley mine didnt because it wasnt a new specific rebuild kit its was mainly new, left-over gaskets and such from my dads collecion of all the SU carbs hes had over the years

Leftover parts from SU carbs ?
The first things that come to mind is that the SU's don't have an air valve diaphram, a temperature compensator, or a throttle bypass valve diaphram. All of which and more could use some attention during a rebuild.

As Poolboy said, using parts that have been laying around or are not specifically for the carb in questions is not a great idea.

SUs are different enough from ZS carbs that I'd personally focus on the SU guides.

So, we're assuming these are CDSE or CD2SE/V/X carbs? Not plain CD as he said? In that case, there are some really good instructions at https://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/technical/technical.htm (scroll down to the TR250/6 carb section).

But I thought the "diddle pin" was eliminated on the emissions versions, and the early non-emissions models were different enough to make the later instructions confusing.

I sure did. If I was wrong, sorry about that .

Assuming you are working on the TR7, you can get good info from the service manual here.

Covers both European SU and North American ZS 175 setups I think.

alright thank you. i just meant parts from all other carbs hes had over the years, i have a total of 8 of the zenith 175 carbs which i used certain things off of. thanks for the diagrams.
