... you come home from a 3-day work trip, right after the 3-day trip to get the car, and the first thing you do after tossing your suitcase in the kitchen is try to start the Bugeye. A little more gas in the tank, and it starts up. So you take it for a quick spin around the block, then park it in the driveway in the (above freezing) sun and wash the road grime off. Then you remove the seats so you can remove the rollbar. Seats back in, you take a few more spins around.

Only when this is all done do you go inside and put your travel stuff away. Hey, the sun was out and I had to make the most of it. I'll need to track down some wiring issues, as the brake lights and turn signals aren't working. Got to get those sorted so I can get the car inspected and registered.

No kids, but the wife came home while I was washing the car. Gave her a kiss and she went inside, I kept working. Did get her to go for a quick ride around the block a little later, though.
 
Seems to run pretty well at first glance. It's still rather cold here, so not really good engine-tuning weather. Did get me around the block, though. First things to fix are some electrical issues--we have headlights (high and low) and running lights, but no turn signals or brake lights. Got to get those fixed so I can get it registered. Trying to get by for now with the existing wiring, at least to get it through inspection. Then it will be time for a new harness all around.

Sure made me smile though. Feels so different than my TR4 did. I like it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
Running lights and turn signals are prob nothing more that bulbs the are not makeing good contact.
 
i might like a rollbar...will it fit my 74 midget? and is it shippable for a decent price to 72756?.....zimmy

Shocks are on the list, but a little further down. First task is to get it through inspection so I can get it registered and legal on the road. I really want to be able to at least drive it around my local roads legally. Then will come the first round of sorting out, dealing with the big, obvious issues. Wiring, shocks, and a good check through of the engine. After that, who knows? Not a restoration yet, just some good summer driving.

My wife is not much of a runner, more of an ambler. That she does just fine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Is this a functional roll bar? One that won't crush when rolled? And does it fit under the top? If so... I'll pay shipping. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
Looks like I have a local guy who wants the roll bar, so it's not available anymore. I really know nothing about it. Looked too short to do me any good (I'm 6' 1") but it did fit under the hood.
