You have used 90% of your Data Plan

I didn't even realize I had a data limit with my ISP but today I got a popup on my computer that said I had used 90% of my allowed internet data for the month. It said if I go over I would get additional increment of data for additional $10. I think what caused the excessive usage was my recent move to BackBlaze online data backup. For the past few days my computer had been backing up the main HD and a couple of external drives to the Backblaze cloud. I suspect this is what I have come close to maxing out my data for the first time ever.

That happened to me... so I started leaning on wi-fi everyplace I could find it. One place was Home Depot where I logged into a LG refrigerator!!! I kid you not (not secure either). Now I'm wondering if some head of lettuce will be looking at porn and it will be blamed on me. So, I decided to cut off the frig. "She was a cold mistress."

Groan!

Just went through this here - Canada has some of the worst and most expensive Interwen and cell phone service in the world (gotta love monopolies) - got a 90% usage message on Sunday and then 100% on Wednesday. Admittedly we only have 3 gigs of data BUT Rogers (our company) had been giving me a "loyalty" bonus of 2 gigs more - unfortunately they stopped in April (when we were in Spain and didn't use it) - Now you would think that stopping this might be something they would tell me, but, apparently not - guess we aren't loyal enough.

"Customer Loyalty" is highly over-rated. After three generations of "loyalty" to State Farm and Sears, we've shunned both here. Shoddy treatment in the last few years, so they've been dismissed.

I'm with you - for us it is mortgages. "Yes sir you qualify for our special "loyalty" rate - only 1 1/2% higher than the next lower competitor.

Do you have your phone set up to only backup with wifi? (that made a huge difference - even just with pictures.

Yes, my phone only does backups over wifi, but that's not the issue in my case. My singing up for BackBlaze to backup my computer and all connected external hard drives is what has caused a huge spike in my normal data usage with my ISP. I don't think I'm going to go over since the plan resets tomorrow and everything is nearly backed up now.
