when the weekend rolls around. A lot fewer posts, guess folks are at home rather than at work. Don't forget to say thanks to the boss for internet access at work.

Awfully hot and humid here, and we have another month of it.

I seem to have picked a good time to have Miss Agatha in the paint shop and have the bits all ready to install as well. Not fun outside at all.

I keep seeing car weekends advertised. Gesh why not wait for some decent weather, I know kids are out of school. Wouldn't it be nice to do a weekend without kids? I find it very restful not to mention cheeper. Wife and I always share even a meal as most places serve toooooo much. Kids insist on the most expensive thing on the menue and all different. Think I got my grandkids trained finaly.

Have a good hot day. heh.

The weekend is the only time I can put to use what I've learnt in the forum, after the usual chores of mowing and yard work etc, it's off to the garage!
Messing with the carbs today, I promised myself I would do this myself, let's face it, the forum isn't around when I'm in the gravel!

Too hot here to be outside unless you are doing something in the water.

Cut the grass, that's the extent of my outside today.

Gesh see where a bit more work is needed on the windsheld. Boy are they a pain to get polished just right.

Jack, I can understand you wanting to cut kids out of the LBC weekends. We are annoying, rude, loud, obnoxious, and expensive. But if you would prefer that your Bugeye gets driven in 30 to 40 years, then I would suggest that you do as much as possible to get as many kids as possible involved with LBCs, instead of suggesting that we cut them out. Otherwise, with the lessening amount of interest in them in the future, along with the government always trying to enforce new restrictions, the hobby of LBCs will slowly become obsolete and your Bugeye that you've spent time working on will end up in a garage under a bunch of junk or made into a new Maytag dishwasher....

Ha, my kids are 40 and 45, grandkids, 18, 14, 7 and 4.

I say the kids can darn well do their own thing.

No, the point I was trying to make and guess I did not was summer is too darn hot for car shows/weekends outside, at least in the south. However, they mostly seem to happen in the summer because that's when kids are out of school. School vacations are getting shorter and shorter though, School has been underway in Florida for two weeks now. Seems they only have about 7 weeks off anymore so maybe it is a mute point.

Really, I have no problem with kids at shows. You are correct. They are the future of our cars.

Man, I've been busy with customers all day! Seems everybody wants to come over & order new parts or pull used ones on Saturday so I don't get much work done.

My wife wanted to go to a yard sale at the local church. Thought we couldn't buy much if we took the TR3. When we arrived the parking people waved us through the parking lot to the back field where we ended up as an entry in the hot rod show. I let the kids and parents touch and sit in the car. Boy did I get dirty looks from the don't touch hot rod folks. The kids had a great time and I ended up buying a newly re-done set of Rostyle wheels for my sons Midget from the yard sale. Phil

It's 99 degrees here in T-Town today. Too darn hot to work on the car. Supposed to be only 89 tomorrow, might go for a spin in the early part of the day. Tomorrow I'll get to go see the Tulsa Drillers (our AA ball club) from the Luxury Box courtesy of ShowTime Networks.

No Tunebug projects for me this weeked--I'm 2 down, 1 to go with weekend gigs (last night, this morning, tonight). Earning money for the next projects...

Events are always in the summer here, but of course it snows here in the winter, and they salt the roads. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

It rained hard here in the great northeastern USA yesterday (Saturday). Naturally, I spent the day racing (in a 1-hour enduro at Pocono). I beat my friend's fast 1275 Spridget, but my other friend brought his Mini (we just finished putting a fuel cell in it the night before).
The Mini is a perfect rain-car and he beat us both in the tiddler class (so I got 2nd).

I had a great race with a Factory Five Cobra (427 body with 351 engine). I got him on the last lap...rain is a great equalizer.

Also had a great run during practice with a 1600 Ford Fiesta, but he got away from me when I ended up "visiting" an escape road at the entrance to a high speed turn.

When I've gone to car shows, they often give out signs to the car-owners that say "Please Do Not Touch".....I always scratch out the "Do Not" part of the sign with a Magic Marker.

The kids in my neighborhood can always tell when I'm going racing because the car is on the trailer. I encourage them to come over and look at the car and they often do. I figure that gets them interested in this stuff. A lot of the Dads stop over too and I alwasy invite them to Pocono (nearby for us) but it's hard for folks with younger families to get away. I remember what that was like.
School starts next week for me and I'll see tons of kids. They would spend the entire time in my class talking about cars (if I let them).

Two of my younger brothers and both of my son-in-laws have figured out dibs on my cars, my plane and other treasures, so if I get run over by a bus or anything, it'll all get carried forward...as it should be. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Neat to read all the stuff folks are doing.

Woke up early this morn, 5:30, 60 degrees and sun coming up, wife and baby still sleeping, left them a note and headed to the lakes.
What a perfect time to drive, no traffic awsome breeze. Got to the lake at 7 in time for coffee and danish. gave the midget a check over, headed home. Wife and baby still asleep. Tore up note, when they woke up, told them it was a perfect morning for drive, went again!!!

Ho ho. Barry you bad indeed. Good on ya.

That's what they get for sleeping in Jack, when a priceless opporunity arises for a drive like that, I'll swipe it.
I did bring them back a danish each, everyone's happy.

A 2-for-1 deal on a nice morning. Good work!

Me, I slept in, recovering from the last 2 days of gigs. Nice day here today, so might have to take a spin later on.

Oh gosh Drew, take a spin for me please, thinkin of ya.

I've been going for an after-dinner spin almost every night recently. Just a short half hour or so around town. I've developed a little road course that hits all the best curves in town. Neighbors are going to get annoyed at my little Bugeye zooming around. Luckily, I'm never going all that fast so no one is likely to really notice. Feels fast to me, though.

Lots of things need to get done on the Tunebug, but I've decided to ignore them for now and get some drives in. Winter will be here soon enough, and it will be time to start tearing some things down. So for now, it's vroom vroom.

spent my weekend sending my first child off to college. i figured that was a good enough reason to let the sprite sit quitely in the garage. my latest order from VB came on friday. had the bolts to mount the check(rebound) strap to the underside of the tub but the bolts are way too long and don't have enough thread. catalog says that these are the ones for 1275 but they are obviously wrong. there is another bolt for the 1098 which looks shorter. the bushing is also not available and i don't have that. looks like some internet searching for sleeves. any thoughts?
