Yellow Headlamps?

I saw a picture of a racing TR6 a while back with yellow headlamps and was wondering if anyone has used these in their street car? I hear they improve visibility during the day due to being different and provide better contrast at night during foggy conditions, but mostly I just want them because they look cool. Anyone know what kind/where I could get these?

Before making the change, check your state laws. Some states do not permit modifications to lighting.

These are Lucus lenses that clip directly to the headlight.
If you interested in them feel free to PM me.
I had them clipped under the stone guards, then I went with PL700's & didn't want to cover them. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Very French!

(The French used yellow headlamps for most of the 20th century).

As they say in things automotive... the French copy no one and no one copies the French.

Haha, well said Geo. However, I DO want to copy the French...just once, anyway. I really don't want to put covers on. I don't think they look quite right. I'd rather have bulbs...anyone actually used yellow/low temperature headlight bulbs? Something between 2000 and 2500 deg K should do.

OK...but who makes those and where could I get them?

Webb....ebay as usual is loaded with pages of the European Yellow lights...as Hahn mentioned only place I've ever seen them was when I was in France....better check your state laws or you'll spend most of your time signing tickets and warnings....also might mention if you saw them on a racing vehicle it's likely they were plastic covers protecting the glass lens...

Here's a set for BMW but it'll get you started in the ebay maze...GOOD LUCK!

'Blue and yellow headlights. Headlights must be white - blue and yellow are illegal (24011 VC). Look for the DOT symbol on the bulb and package. '

and

'Headlights brighter or higher wattage than those from the factory. You may be able to see better, but the lights are illegal (24011 VC).'

Yep, illegal in California. Also, it would not be a good thing for you if involved in an accident with illegal equipment, your case just got worse.

Hey There TR6oldtimer;

What the Heck is legal in CA these days?

Before You know it; Your "2006 Mini Van or SUV" will have outdated emissions or something else that CA can think of to keep You off the Streets:

But; Your Right: Really should ckeck the "Yellow Light Law" in the prevailing State:

Pot and illegal immigrants.

All true, but from what I've seen, rarely enforced. Don't see much yellow (although I have seen a few), but blue headlights are very common and just as illegal.

When my TR3A was totaled, no one even looked at my (technically illegal) headlights. "If a tree falls in the forest ..." No one inspected the brake lights either ... the only question was whether I was wearing a seat belt.

BTW, I understand PA is even more restrictive than CA.
