Re: YEE HAW!! GarageMahal Update

ROLL-UPS....double sweet.
Is it optional as to which side of the wall they are installed on? I thought I had only seen them with the roll on the inside. But then again, it isn't something I take notes on when I see them.

My garage door guy said it doesn't matter - because I was putting them on the outside, they had to put the locking mechanisms on the opposite side when they built them...the front one is under a carport so its safe from weather - the rear one is under a 2' wide overhang & is recessed in the soffit so he said it would also be safe.

You need 16" above the door for the rollup part...if you look at the photo of the inside of my addition, you'll see that wasn't possible. That's why we reversed them.

Re: YEE HAW!! GarageMahal Update

tony, very nice! are you going to poor a cement pad outside were the grassy area is? just wondering. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

That's an area about 20'x22'...over the summer, my plan is to concrete it....initially, I've gotta pour a 4" wide pad under the door to keep critters out.

Here's a sketch of the GarageMahal layout...the grassy area is behind the 'Center Room' & adjacent to my lawnmower shed & the door leading to my 4-post lift.

The GarageMahal is an example of building without a final floor plan - I just add as I need space....keeping it blending with the house, neighborhood, & landscaping is a real trick!

Not To Scale:

Re: YEE HAW!! GarageMahal Update

Hey, Anthony - everybody in my neighborhood has an extra detached garage of some size from 2-car up to mine...restrictions say there can only be 1 "outbuilding" per lot....we've even got a couple of empty lots & there might be a house or two for sale somewhere in the neighborhood....we're all car guys.....come on down!

Re: YEE HAW!! GarageMahal Update

tony, thats great to know, if i come down there ill be by myself cuz itll take no less then 40 lbs. of c-4 to get Vicktoria's butt oudda here.-- guess theres no limit to the size of that one outbuilding.

Re: YEE HAW!! GarageMahal Update

What are they asking for those properties? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Re: YEE HAW!! GarageMahal Update

1 acre lots start around $40K...houses on the bottom end of $200K...we've got a 3-1/2 acre lot with about 8,000 square feet under roof.

Re: YEE HAW!! GarageMahal Update

"1 acre lots start around $40K"

DANG!!

A buddy of mine just paid $200,000. for a
1,800 SF lot on a hillside overlooking the ocean.

We have a large sized lot by island standards at
5,000 SF.

Re: YEE HAW!! GarageMahal Update

I'm probably in 200k just on renovations & additions and I live on a piddly 1/5 acre.

Re: YEE HAW!! GarageMahal Update

"Now I've got to clean up after all the construction and put away the lot of parts I recently purchased from a garage that went out of business. Man, there's stuff stacked everywhere. Seems no matter how big this garage gets, there's still stuff everywhere!."
