Here the other day conversation got me thinking. So I went looking and found a piece of original rubber hose for my oil pressure line. Now I can use the original bits with it. One more work around bites the dust.

Should be here in a week or so, coming from Australia.

Jack:

Thanks for the input on my oil line issue.

I went to a meeting the other day for the Antique Auto Club of the Bahamas (of which I am a proud member). There I showed some of the members my broken oil line. They directed me to a local supply house and, voila, for $2.02 USD the whole thing was replaced. I installed it this afternoon and my oil leak problems are now solved.

Not original, but functional.

Wonderful, Mike. Always glad when something works out well.

Lesson here is to find a ~local~ hydraulics shop!

They'll be supportive.

Locally was the mantra on my car club. However....

Life here in Nassau is still a bit old fashioned. At lunch time I went over to the supply house to which I was referred. I arrived at 1:00pm only to find a 'Closed' sign hanging in the window. Upon closer examination I learned that the shop closes from 1:00-2:00 for lunch. When I shared my experience with my friends that evening they laughed, saying that was a relic of the old colonial era. One of my buddies related a story of a restaurant on one of the out islands that (still) closes down at 1:00 for lunch!

Anyway, I used a 1/8th inch diameter plastic hose. That's what came off the car. It had two 3/8th brass fittings on each end with small compression fittings. All told, I need the hose and compression fittings. I reused the brass fittings. Total cost = $2.02. Even here in over-priced Nassau that was a bargain.
