I have to undo the repairs done in order
to do the repairs the right way.

See the custom chrome bracket and the
custom Craftsman 9/16 socket spacer?

THe parts pulled, the Alternator, custom chrome bracket and Craftsman Socket Spacer and the broken piece of the water pump.
Now to fix their wiring job and replace the broken water pump and install a Lucas Alternator and proper brackets.
This is just the TIP of the iceberg.

I have to remind myself sometimes that these were always cheap cars to many people, so they were kept running by any means necessary.

You got a free socket out of the deal, so it can't be all that bad.
