Hello form Michigan, I am trying to find the specification for rotor thickness and minimal thickness for a series 2 XKE. My manuals show no spec. and my brake shop's manuals don't go back to 1971. Thanks in advance, Rick

Its not in my manual either. I have left a message with a friend who happens to be a Master of Masters factory Jag mechanic. If anyone will know, he will. He wasn't home when I called him, but as soon as I can find out I'll post it here.

Cheers,
Basil

Update: I just spoke with my friend who, as I said, is not just a Jag mechanic, but is a Master of masters Jag mechanic said the spec is...drum roll....there is no spec. That's right friends, there was never a spec published for the EType rotor thickness. Basically he said that unless they are really thin (more than 2mm less than a new rotor, they are probably ok. However, he also said that if they have to take more than 10 thousanths off in order to true them, you should probably disguard them and buy new. The good news is, new rotors are very reeasonable (about $35-$45 each). If you have them off and there is any doubt, you might want to just consider putting new one on anyway.

Cheers,
Basil

If this is any help, the XJ6 specifaction which is stamped on the rotor states no less than 1.00" thick. I think that is overdone since the new thickness isnt much greater than that. With your own Etype, use that and some Kentucky windage.
