XK150 Interior

What material was used on the door panels, under the dash panel and other non-carpeted areas of the 1959 XK150 roadster? I think the seats were leather but mine have been recovered in vinyl. My dash top was leather and looks worse than fried pork rine. The gray leather panel for the instruments is in great shape and I will reuse it like it is. If you can post a picture of how the seats shouild look and how the back of the seat area should look it would be appreciated. Eventually I will get the full nice interior but it will be after a nice exterior painting which is a year or so away.

Thanks Yankee TR:
I got this from BAS:

Jaguar used rexine, a thin early foreunner of vinyl that is no longer made. By the time they produced the XK150 they introduced vynide/vinyl, a thicker better quality vinyl that did not have a stretch knit backing. The use of correct vinyl allows for panel work and body covering to be a well defined/crisp finish as original. Some later vinyl/vynide were also offered in an antique finish. The valley of the grain on the vinyl being slightly darker as seen on original Jaguar colours, Light Beige, Cinnamon, Light Grey etc., see the differences. Please note the use of stretch back/thicker amblas, give panel work that chubby, naugahyde look which effects the look and fit of panels within your car especially when finishing strips are used, i.e chrome cantrails in E.Type FHC

The door panels on my car are OK but they are vinyl (or something???) the coverings over the rear fender wells appears to be some other material. I am wondering if the door panels were replaced but the fender well covers are original? What material was used for these vinyl or leather? My door panels are a little more grainy or textured than the covers on the rear fender wells. Do either of these appear to be the original?

Did you use a kit from BAS, if so major or minor? Did you have to re-cut to fit or did it fit up with out alterations?

I bought the Bassett kit and was very pleased with the result. They use Connelly leather and you can order the grade you prefer. The material used for the hard vinyl was similar to Hardura that was used in Es and other cars and the result was very period correct. The same interior was used in last year's JCNA champion 150 so it must be right. Bassett's fit and finish is very nice and I have used their kits in other cars as well.

Hope these pictures will help

Dave.
