sometimes, but not all the time, when i start the car the gauge doesnt read correctly (like after i have JUST, filled the car up, it will say, 1/4, 1/2 tank, etc). Thoughts? Ideas?

You should check on recalls with regard to this problem. I know that Volkswagen have issued one for faulty gas gauges on certain models, and if they were sourced from the same supplier?
