X300 central locking , longish

Morning,

My 12/95 build X300 XJ6 is the "base model", and does NOT have keyless entry, fine, got an interface kit, simple enough, BUT, is this model Jaguar system a +ve trigger, or a -ve trigger. The kit is a +ve trigger unit. My other 2 were simple +ve trigger, but this "modern Jag" is different.

I have located the lock/unlock relays in the LH heel panel, and there is more than 1 wire with 12v supply at these relays, so I am leaning towards -ve trigger. I have also located the 2 Orange (with trace) wires in the LHF kickpanel, that apparently go to the locks, but am not getting readings on the DVM in these wires?.

I am reluctant to splice things in to see what works, and also allow these so called alarm fitters to attack my car, there are just way too many modules and stuff that could gey fried, along with my wallet.

So far my probings have succeeded in:
Setting off the allarm siren, cool, that works.
Dead locking myself out of the car, that was fun, NOT.
having a relay in the RH heel board constantly chatter, dunno.
Removing the battery cable corrected all the wrongs, but I am still none the wiser. The dealers here have no idea, "just take it to an installer, and let tham sort it", hahaha.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks Steve,

I may have a solution, yesterday, bored, consumed a few Jack Daniels, thought some more on this issue, took off the RH door trim (card), operated the lock rod/button, and of course the system does as intended, mmmm.

Why not fit a solenoid to that rod, which can be triggered by the remote interface, and leave the car system as built. I have a few odd Jaguar lock solenoids in the shed (next issue) and some are quite small, S3 boot lock I think, and they will suffice nicely when I find them.

I will update this post later today, when I have put my thoughts into practice.

Thats it Steve,

All done, used a generic central locking solenoid/motor, left over from something, sometime ago. Plenty of room in the door aperture to mount the motor, and the "brain", so no pulling of wires thru from the inside of the car.

Found the rattle in the door at the same time, the 2 nuts securing the window motor were loose.

Thanks
