This is how I opened up the X-type LH side mirror today.
The cover has two kinds of fittings, hooks and flat parts. The hooks are at the underside of the cover. It is easiest to open it there with a flat screwdriver.
With the cover off, you can see the mirrorglass attached inside (yelow rectangle). Push the glass inwards at the side nearest to the car. With the other side almost out, you can pull it a little there.
The mirrorglass will release itself, if it is not broken already be carefull and don’t drop it
To fully open, release the wires
