I was flipping through the channels this evening and came across an old episode of Combat. First time I had seen it in years. This started me thinking, how many shows dealing with WWII were there. I remember the following ones:

Combat
12 0'clock High
McHales Navy
Hogan's Heroes
Baa Baa Black Sheep

How many others were there?

Regards John

Sargent Bilko

rat patrol

Forgot about Rat Patrol and I wasn't sure if Sergeant Bilko was just an Army show or a WWII show.

combat ran on a couple of cable stations a couple of years ago at 7:00 in the AM back to back. What is interesting is to see the people who were nobody's then and became big stars. Robt Duval was in a couple of episodes.Always 1 of my favorite shows.

Black Sheep Squadron?
Used to be on the History Channel saturday mornings, always enjoyed it....

I am sure there is a bunch of British ones too.....

last Summer KDOC-TV here in So Cal had them on Saturday nights, Hogans Heroes , Mchales navy and then Combat

Gotta agree about the "Danger-UXB" series.

A close second but not THAT war was "The Sandbaggers". Brilliant.

Although it's not a series like the others, I can't stop watching episodes of "Band of Brothers". Easily one of the best televised WWII accounts ever.

"Combat" with Vic Morrow was another great WWII TV series. I haven't seen it for many years and I'm glad it's finally being aired again. I'll keep a lookout for it.

I heard it wasn't aired due to the litigation by Vic Morrow's family over the "Twilight Zone - The Movie" film in which Morrow was tragically killed.

At any rate, a great show depicting the advance of U.S. soldiers to Berlin.

I hope it comes my way.

Thanks for posting!

Victory at Sea, while not a drama or comedy, enthralled me as a kid and still does, even after doing 6 years in the Navy.

When you think about it , thats not many shows ,

I would have though there would be more

beaulieu, how about the series "the world at war" guess im showing my age here, thats way its taking so much time to remember! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

"Run Silent, Run Deep" about Submarines in WWII.

We didn't have TV at home so I spent Saturdays at a buddy's house to watch it. I still am fastinated by Submarines as a result of that series.

Don

don neff, good one! i had forgotten about that one, when ever that came on the old man would repeat the story of how he tried out for sub duty something about being placed in some sort of water filled pressurized chamber and had his left ear pop so bad he lost the hearing in that ear for 7 months and never fully recoverd, he said other guys came out with both ears bleeding, they all got scrubbed out.

<Don Winslow of the Navy - Ancient. No one under 95 will remember it.>

I resemble that remark.

Sgt. Bilko had nothing to do with WW II
Sea Hunt was a SCUBA show not about subs.
You are probably thinking of Silent Service
Run Silent run deep a movie not TV.

Mike Nelson!!!

Ivan Tors did that series here, much of it in Silver Springs. Bahamas came later, with a bigger budget.

And I admit to having the "Victory at Sea" series on DVD, will have the "World at War" one soon too.
