Wife and kidlets are at the in-laws visiting the new baby (brother in law). I'm degreasing the Spit engine bay; getting reading to pull the engine and get down to business with the restoration. Workbench is full of parts

Filed for SS Thursday and am sitting here waiting for the checks to start coming.

Actually Shirley and I went for a ride around town and the local area last evening. We realized that all the miles we have gone we have hardly driven in around home.

Lots of old cars on the road probably because there is a Good Guys car show in town this weekend. We had a lot of fun. Many waves and around the UW campus the students wonder what it is since they were not born back then.

We had some things to do today and might take a late night drive. We both really enjoy star light drives during the summer.

Today was band practice, then we has a 65th birthday for my dad-in-law. tomorrow is usual sunday, playin at church, then takin it easy in the afternoon.

1. Spending the week at our timeshare in the mountains. About 20 degrees cooler here than in the valley.

2. Celebrated our 28th anniversary today...took the wife on a 3 hour historic train ride (she's always wanted to ride a "real train").

3. Spent the rest of the day in her and the daughter's favorite activity...shopping! (Oh yea)

Came home Thursday from camping after a two week excursion. Friday was spent unloading equipment from the Pickup and Mowing my neglected lawn then a little R&R
Saturday was spent searching for Chokecherries, the ones I found are not quite ripe here yet, I will be checking them daily for the next two weeks. Once they turn, I`ll be picking them. Two weeks from now I`ll be camping once again for another two weeks and hopefully making chokecherry jelly and syrup.

P.S. if ya don`t know what Chokecherries are don`t worry you wouldn`t like them  and besides that, around here there is already enough competition getting them.

...storm prep... :madder:

work

(stake the rain-battered bush beans, hoe the turnips, brew onion tea to fight the beetles, reset the groundhog trap (pesky squirrel stole the bait), couple of herb garden tours, "quality check" on the women's baked goods, bring in the cows, repair the water trough, pick some corn)

then drive back home in my TR3 and eat the corn!

T.

Choke cherries! Does that bring back memories. My father was like a kid in the candy store when he found a choke cheery bush. The jam he made was gawd awful stuff  , how he could enjoy it, to this day I do not know.

Oh, and this weekend, I am fixing the screw ups on my TR6 I made last weekend.

Ray:
Good job on discouraging others from indulging in the Chokecherry arena. More for me!

I'm covering all my windows with gaffers tape.

I'm not worried about the storm, I just want to be different.

I was always told that chokecherries were poisonous.. or was that choke-Berries?
hmmm... off to do a bit of research.

Flew back Sat am.
Been sick in bed since.
Will be off work tomorrow too.
How in heavens name do you get the flu in CA in August?

Went to the Rolex Monterey Historic races. Spoke with Alain de Cadenet about the demise of "Victory by Design". He said that we need to lobby Speed TV to get it to continue. He never got to finish the second half of the Grand Prix racers.
