Anyone know the internals of the Lucas 14W 2-speed wiper motor or the switch that goes with it? The motor came from a Midget later than my '67 Sprite. It is going into my Prefect which cannot use the Lucas wiper switch and I do not have one to examine. I can make slow and fast work and thought I knew how to make park work. But when I connect the park wire, it blows a fuse. I just added a separate hidden manual park switch. Any help at all is much appreciated. Other than that, my new wiring harness passes the smoke test. :banana:
 
WSW help......here I thought you wanted help with white side walls....

MY Lucas wiper motor, park is ground, provides a feed back through the switch, when off, to power the slow speed portion until it reaches "park", then opens the contact, wipers stop.
 
Thanks TOC. Are you saying your switch provides the ground? If so that might explain my problem. I was providing power to the park wire at the motor. I sure wish I had a switch to examine. Will try to find one tomorrow.
 
The park switch (on mine) is the ground. When the dash wiper switch is off, the slow speed is connected to the park lead, continues to provide power to "slow" run until park is reached, contact opens, motor stops.
 
And, actually, MY Lucas runs backwards when parking.
 
And, mine was missing ALL the park switch components. I had to shut off with the switch when it reached a reasonable "park" position.
 
Yes, ground is thru the switch and if you hook it up wrong without a fuse to protect it you will melt the park contact! Guess how I know!?

Thanks again guys. It's interesting to hear that it runs backwards. That may explain why I got a direct short but hard to know without knowing the internals. First time I tried, it was initially in the park position and ran just a split second for part of a sweep, probably the momentum of the motor, before it stopped. Second time it was not parked and instantly blew the fuse with a pretty good flash. No doubt there was a direct short. I can certainly believe it would melt something if there was no fuse. It sounds then like I should be safe to try grounding that fifth wire and see if it parks. Is that right?
