Wrench extenders

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with wrench extenders, such as this one? Seems like a great idea that could come in handy in many situations, but what are your thoughts if you've used one?

For me, $24 is a bit steep. Back when I was a teen, my dad used a "convincer" to extend a wrench handle.

The convincer was just a length of pipe, which fit over the wrench handle.

Yes, I have done that many times, but depending on the size of the wrench and the pipe it doesn't always work well. I've also done the interlocking wrench trick. I'm not bothered by the price - just want to know if anyone has experience with these extenders. In theory it seems like a convenient way to ad extra torque to a variety of wrench sizes, but how are they in practice.

This is a nice tool for an impact wrench on bolts that are hard to reach! Not needed often, but sometimes it's a life saver. Harbor freight sells them. I'm speaking of the offset extension.

cheapest method will already be in your toolbox, just hook the ring end of the next size up spanner on to the lower jaw.

I use one like that. Except it goes on a ratchet or breaker bar.

The wrench extender on a socket wrench with a 6-point socket? Good idea, methinks! I'd be worried about applying all that torque to an open wrench (two flats on the fastener). Same for the 12-point end.

(Generally, I'll use a breaker bar, but sometimes that is not practical. It offers the benefit of a swivel head, but mine is 1/2" drive and 18" or so long... does not work for all fasteners.)

I have used the interlocking wrench method for years but I can certainly see the virtue of the extender - especially as my knuckles take longer to heal these days and I have slipped the interlock ones more than once.
