"WOW" 1954 SWALLOW DORETTI on Ebay

Re: "WOW" 1954 SWALLOW DORETTI on Ebay

My daughter says buy it!

Re: "WOW" 1954 SWALLOW DORETTI on Ebay

Cool, probably more detailed pics of one than I have ever seen. We have one in the area, but the owner never takes it out.

Bumper overriders look like Austin Healey items.

Re: "WOW" 1954 SWALLOW DORETTI on Ebay

"Many parts were supplied by Moss Motors guaranteeing that the parts were of the highest quality and matched the originals". Thats all we need to know.

Scary seller feedback...

Meh, I dunno... 3 neutrals (one in error, looks like) and one negative? Looking down the list, almost every single auction seems to be for a car, lots of exotics & vintage. (Not a bunch of $5 parts padding his average, I mean...)

If you can sell 80 old cars, and only have one truly unhappy person, I think you're doing okay!

Re: "WOW" 1954 SWALLOW DORETTI on Ebay

My guess 45K, because of rarity and beauty. Any one else with a guess! 6 days left.

Re: "WOW" 1954 SWALLOW DORETTI on Ebay

Dang,2 over my budget!

Re: "WOW" 1954 SWALLOW DORETTI on Ebay

Wow a very sweet looking car. Now if I could just find where I put those winning lottery numbers. :winner1:

Re: "WOW" 1954 SWALLOW DORETTI on Ebay

Look close at the photo of the top radiator hose and you will notice a weird angle for the hose. The Doretti is very nice but finding the correct radiator (same as what was used on a pre TS1200 TR2) will be a real challange. What is being used is a later version.

Re: "WOW" 1954 SWALLOW DORETTI on Ebay

A rad isn't that difficult. You could always have something built.

Re: "WOW" 1954 SWALLOW DORETTI on Ebay

I'd be more concerned about the brakes and other items that typically don't like sitting w/o use due to the seller's statement of, "...the owner states that the car actually has only 150 miles since restoration. The car was garaged, placed on blocks and covered in 2002."

Sounds like it hasn't seen the road in 6 years or so....

All stuff that is fixable, but better plan on doing some work to make it truly road worthy!

STILL, Nice looking car! :driving:

BTW: There used to be a '54 Doretti for sale at ClassicCarsForSale.co.uk
https://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page.php/carno/13532
Chassis #1011
restored in 2002
Asking Price was approx $53.6K

& here's another for ÂŁ29950 +VAT

Re: "WOW" 1954 SWALLOW DORETTI on Ebay

I didn't realize they were made out of aluminum. I thought they were glass fiber.

Griffin Radiator can make a rad from scratch.

Re: "WOW" 1954 SWALLOW DORETTI on Ebay

Why not? They obviously swapped out a bunch of parts in a 'restoration' and a TR4 rear end would fit - there is room under those wheelwells.

I had one of these for awhile but never got around to restoring it. Sold it to a guy in WA and he came back and won best of show at Van Dusen in Vancouver a few years ago! His is black.
