If it were an original S3 TC, yes. But I see so much that's not original thst I wonder.

Looks to be a Toyota engine, too. If the car is properly put together and runs out well it's not out of reason. I've seen a few in the $28~$32K range with the Ford SOHC mills. An original at $34 would be a steal.
 
Well, that satifys me! Too much money. I've also heard that their back breakers on a long trip, what ever a long trip in one is. :jester:
 
My pal has a Caterham example. He and his S.O. drove it 200 miles on Interstate to come for an afternoon visit... they took less traveled roads back. :smirk:

The Caterham cars are a bit more comfortable than the originals, better seating, padding... still a brutal vehicle on long drives. But TONS o' FUN!!! :laugh:
 
Actually, Caterhams hold their value very well in the US and are better than an original Lotus in every way with exception to historical value.
The price on this one is a little high only because there is a slightly better spec (and newer) one for sale at the same price at the same website.

These both have a Ford Zetec motor, not a Toyota, and you couldn't build a new one for that price.

I paid quite a bit more for mine, albeit it is a much higher spec car, and I could probably get all my money back or more if I was to sell it. A new one like mine would cost around $60+k

They are not back breakers by any means, they ride quite nice albeit firm, even one that is in track spec like mine. The big problem on long trips is the noise and wind (which is nothing a good set of ear plugs and side curtains can't fix) and the tight quarters. There is a guy in our local club who take his on multi state tours every year.

Having driven all kinds of sports cars and exotics, I have to say the Caterham is the most fun street legal car I've ever driven.
