Oh yeah!!!

That is beautiful, just beautiful!!

Eh... maybe. I'd be apt to discover a reason to run the windshield washer/wipers for awhile.

Oh yeah!

EXCELLENT!

Done it.

...but at least the silly cyclist didn't run the lights as so many seem so inclined to do.... :nonono:

Tell me about it. Not a day goes by where I don't see someone on a bicycle run a stop light/sign, almost get run over, then yell at the driver who almost center punched them. Sorry, but if it's something I wouldn't do in my car, I sure as heck wouldn't do it on my bike!!!

Great video. As a cyclist, I would never put my hands someone else's car, as that is plain rude. Depending on the heat I commute via bike about 2-5 days a week and I stop at all read lights / stop signs.

I will tell you that when I am on a bike it can appear that all cars don't stop before turning at a red light, don't yield when turning into driveways, drift into my 18 inches of personal space (and on and on), when in reality almost every car on the road does none of these things (that can kill a cyclist). It is just the few that do that stand out.

Most cyclists I know follow the rules, and the last thing I want to do is get in the way of a car. I have no idea who is behind the wheel, and any interaction can be painful/fatal. Personally I am just trying to save the $150 a month it cost to park where I work, and burn a some extra calories to make room for the occasional beer.

Apparently that doesn't hold true around here. The traffic laws state that a bicycle must stay as far to the right as practical and that bicycles and motorized vehicles must "share" the road. I see - almost daily - groups of bikers in their skin-tight riding gear going 3-4 wide down a very busy 45mph tree-lined road. It isn't uncommon for them to look back at cars and laugh. Sometimes those are groups of 4-6, sometimes they're groups of 20ish.

Other groups stay single-file and to the right, until a car comes. Those groups are usually in groups of 6-10 riders, and when I car comes the last guy in line swerves to the left about 3/4 of the way to the center-line - and he stays there. I think the objective is to make cars move way over. Still, the first couple of times I saw that maneuver I thought the guy was going to hit me.

There's definitely a lot of darwin-award material around here on 2-wheels.

aerog, for some reason we in stamford ct. have way too many guys that think thier first name is "lance", one word comes to mind--"IDIOTS"

Cyclists?

nahh.

"Ten Pins"!!!

feh... they've gone waaay beyond reason here. Arrogance and downright defiance in too many instances. I try to be courteous. They make that next-to impossible.

I'm wit' Ant'ny.

And it seems the more "gear" they have on, the worse they are.

Most cyclists around here do not follow the rules...they love the curvey country roads around my place & on Saturday's hog them - not in single file but all across lanes...& they paint their routes on the blacktop without concern for how that looks to those of us who must live with it months after their ride is finished! They don't stop at intersections - that would cost them time; when they make a turn, they don't slow so they might come over in my lane making a fast, wide swing; they're lucky they don't get killed!

&, Doc, you're right....the more 'racing gear' they wear, the worse they are!

doc, im going to have two new laws placed on the books here in ct,...#1- any yellow shirt made of stretch material must have a black bulls-eye prominently printed on the front and back, #2- it will be illegal for "adult" bike riders to wear helmets. ive had too many bike riders doing really dumb things yelling at myself and others about how they have the right of way, i tell em to explain it to the mortition. :yesnod:-- yikes! thinkin bout it some of them bikes cost more en alot of cars ive owned, you'd think they would be smarter.

I'm one of those lycra glad cyclists, and I agree with all of you on the "idiot" description.I can't figure out why some cyclists think the road code doesn't apply to them. Unless the road is closed during a race or a ride,I stop at stop signs and red lights .But unfortunately, too many riders ignore the rules, get arrogant and down right discourteous.
On the obverse,of course, some drivers are the same. The motto of all bike clubs should be "obey the rules and share the road". :savewave:

Stuart.

I'm beginning to think we should require licensing & insurance for everybody over 16 who wants to ride a bike on the streets! No license plate = ticket; no proof of insurance = ticket; no helmet = ticket; disobeying traffic rules = ticket. Multiple bikes would be just like multiple cars. Bet many states would solve their budget problems real fast!

ecurie-ecose, it is truly not fair to condemn all bike rider, my own son rides, buys, sells some of them high price pieces, he and his buds mostly ride in parks or around our home doing tune ups changing bits and pieces, hes serious about it so much so his girl friend gave him a bike rack for his new jeep for x-mass, ive followed/watched them from my own car at a distance and can say they follow the rules, but way too many others ive seen around are arrogant wanna be armstrong jerks, id ride myself sept my legs aint long enough to reach the pedals. :savewave:

I just got home from a good 'ol bike ride. My gear consists of some weight lifting gloves, a pair of nikes, running shorts, and a red "cut your Mullet" T-shirt. I got yelled at by one of those 'geared up' cyclists for not riding a street bike (I ride a chrome Mongoose Mtn Bike) and not wearing a helmet. I then saw him run a stop sign and almost get hit by a car, then he yelled at the car. I at least slow down for stop signs, and stop if there are any cars around. I even use the old fashioned hand turn signals. I agree with the whole more gear = more stupid comment. I should probably at least wear a helmet... but I like the wind through my hair. Same reason I don't wear a hat while driving. lol

I'll enjoy my hair till I go bald!

In my younger days I was one of them 'geared up' cyclists. The group I rode with put thousands of miles on our bikes each year. Our thought was that we were exposed too often not to follow the rules. That did not stop a truck from pulling out in front of one friend which resulted in a trip to the hospital for him and several hundred dollars of damage to the truck. Another fiend was hit and killed while ridding 'as far to the right as possible'.

I feel the cyclists that ride like idiots are cyclists in the same way that urban cowboys are real cowboys. A cyclists should follow the laws and so should the drivers. If either group does gets dumb, some one will get hurt.

My bike is a Raleigh SuperCourse-II. Old but fine AFAIC. "Real" cyclists look down their noses at me. I ~STOP~ at stop signs. I don't wear spandex or a hat (well, not a "helmet" anyway). I stay off major roads. The Herd Riders can do as they please. feh. They're ~supposed~ to follow vehicle rules, supposed to be licensed if on a highway or city street. They're a scourge. "Entitlement" mentality.

Common sense just ain't.
