Worst Flu Ever!

I came down with the flu last Wednesday - I'm still down for the count - worst flu ever. It made the 2 1/2 week hanger-onner that I had in December feel like a cake walk. 103-04 fever for five days. Alternating chills and sweats - I prefer the sweats but not by much. One night i changed my t-shirt 3 times. I holed up in my room while the rest of the fam walked around with disinfectant wipes. High fever broke Sunday - moderate fever broke yesterday. It turned into an infection - now I'm heavily medicated - starting to feel better though - There's light at the end of the tunnel. I should be OK by this Saturday for C&C.

cliff...sincerely missed the weekly pics...you'll know if you're still contagious should you make it this week but next week the place is empty!!!

cliff, might be a good subject for your next work, "cars and "t" shirts", picture it, a bunch a really buxom gals standing around a..... ah nevermind, glad to hear ya gettin back. :savewave:

Sounds like the flu I caught in '88 - fever of 101, then every 12 hours I went to 14 for an hour and dropped back to 101. Did that for 6 days. I was really out of it. Hope it's nearly over for you. Not fun.

I haven't had the flu since, though...

sorry, went to 104 degrees

Glad to hear you're on the mend.

I got the flu in January. My first case of it ever, and compared to your's, I guess mine was mild.

Next year, I'll get my first flu shot!

The flu kills tens of thousands of folks every year-global basis.
Folks with any type of lung desease/ailment are at particular risk
of death from the flu.

Here on the island, we can obtain flu shots from The American Lung
Association and from Walgreens, on a very limited basis. No need to
suffer from the flu if shots are available where you live.

Caregivers of folks with lung desease also qualify for the flu shots.
A small payment of like $20. is all it costs.

The problem with the flu shot is this year they guessed wrong on what types of flu would be going around. The worst type that was prevalent this year (sounds like Cliff knows about it too) was not included in the vaccine. They say it is always a guess and the CDC missed the mark this year. I did get the shot and did not get the flu so far this year.

brooklands, thats the problem with flu shots your getting one thats been designed to treat what was around last season not the "morphed" new strain thats around now.

Yeah, my Doc told me that although they included a variety of strains in the flu shot, it did not include one newer variant. Therefore, the shot would only cover about 60% of all cases.
I wish the shot was guaranteed to be 100% effective, but from my point of view, even if I could reduce my chance of getting the flu by 60%, I'll still take it!

Pat and I have been taking 1 gram of vitamin C each day since last Christmas. Family members and friends we have been in close contact with, including our 2 grandsons, have had some nasty flu episodes. But, we have only had mild symptoms. Maybe its psychological, or an old wives tale, but vitamin C is cheap and it seems to work.
