World IPv6 Day!

In celebration (?) of World IPv6 Day, I have to ask the experts here:

What changes do we need to make (if any) in our computers, routers, etc. when IPv6 goes live (i.e. becomes standard)?

World IPv6 Day

Most of us end users have computer internet devices configured to use the "traditional" IP system of four numbers (1 to 3 digits) separated by periods. If we don't configure IPv6, are we going to lose access to certain websites?

Here's an IPv6 test page:

https://test-ipv6.com/

Thanks.
Tom

IPv6 implementation will be the IP's responsibility, most browsers are already compliant. Verizon is our IP here and have NOT (as of today) made the IPv6 protocol 'active'.

It'll be a PITA for places with older routers and/or firewall devices.

I'm lookin' at th' glass as half full here: it may generate some business for us.

I ran the test page and got a thumbs up! So I guess alls cool here. PJ

Most home users shouldn't notice a thing. It is theoretically possible for you to have something so amazingly old that it won't understand IPV6, but if you do, then it's long past time for upgrading anyways.

Most company Intranets will be just fine too, at least within the firewall. We've known this was coming for a long time now, so there should be little to no impact. It's not likeIPV4 is being turned off.

I do have that actually but she doesn't like it when I call her old. Nonetheless it's long past time for upgrading (and I don't mind a bit)

Well I just topped off the generator and bought a bunch of soup and beer. I'll be able to wait as the infrastructure pulls itself back onto its feet.

I'm with ya, Greg!

We've made it thru "test day" without a hiccup.
