Works like an LBC

But ... but ... after those 13 billion miles ... where's the oil leak?

OTOH it now well qualifies as a classic so should be eligible for most shows.

Only 40,272 years until Voyager I reaches the next star (within 1.7 light years)... stay tuned!

I am not a "Trekie" per say, but am fascinated with space, space travel. But not me . I like life on Earth!

Voyager I really is a marvel. I have enjoyed hearing the news about it the past few years.

Walt - do you remember the old Star Trek episode, where the Enterprise encounters a civilization "ruled" by the mysterious "V-Ger".

Turns out the civilization (actually an entity to itself) developed from the wreck of a NASA Voyager probe, and the partially destroyed identification on the wreck was "V ..... GER"

Yow - can't believe my memory still has that li'l tidbit.

Tom, that is the plot from the Star Trek the Motion Picture. It was a bad rehash of the episode in which they encountered the space probe that had been launched in 1992 or something like that and thought that Kirk was its creator.

Thanks Walt. I never saw the movie, so I must have remembered the original TV episode.

What goes around comes around.

"The Changeling" - an early Earth Space probe had a collision with an alien probe and acquired some if the alien probes programming which resulted in the Earth probe thinking it's mission was to destroy and non-perfect life forms (which meant of course any life forms).

Whoa - your memory is sure better than mine! I'd never have guessed the name of the episode.

I have it saved on Netflix too, I saw the episode a month or so ago. I just about done with Season two right now. I have a rather ridiculous plan to watch all of the Star Trek series from the original one through Enterprise on Netflix. So far it has taken me months to get through the first 50 or so episodes of the original series.

Hard to believe that, due to low ratings, the original series only lasted 3 seasons.

This reminds me of a short story by the science fiction writer "Ray Bradbury" in about 1950 or so--wherein we (earth people)--sometime in the future, launched
a space ships with passengers in "suspended animation" to circle the nearest star--4-1/5 light years away--when they returned 400 years later or so--the (earth
people) had forgotten all about the launch and expected return date---"who the **** are you"--

One of my absolute favorite Twilight Zone episodes (condensed version).

Another mechanical marvel from a very different era....

That is amazing!

When the swan dips down to the water to catch a fish, the fish appears inside the beak, and then begins to wiggle as the swan lifts its head.

Wow - humans.

If it hadn't been for Lucy it never would have been made in the first place. I have heard that when the show was cancelled the marketing department decried the decision because it was the #1 show for eighteen to thirty-nine year olds but the executives only cared about the overall ratings.
