Sorry, just had to let it out. This weekend I finished removing the rust under my TR and also getting all four wheels back on the car! The first time in four years that Chance has stood on his own four wheels. I had hoped I'd be able to get the bottom PORed and get him down from the ramps, but looks like that will be next weekend. Still, it feels great to be making positive progress on the car again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

See the attachment of the frame for TS 81551 L that we're restoring now. The body is being lowered onto the frame from above.

Thank you, you've got that right! I don't know who invented the undercoating that was on the car, but I'd like to put him through what I had to do to get that stuff off! And then to find rust underneath! Oh well, on to bigger and better things now!

Well one of thse things I did at the B/L dealership was spray and brush on undercoat when the cars came off the hauler. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I had my Mimosa Stag on a rotisserie to get all the undercoat off. Took a few weeks. I found out that it comes off best with a scraper. then followed by a full steam clean, and POR15. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thirsty.gif

I used a heat gun and scraper, followed by paint stripper (actually did quite good on removing the residual tar), followed by sandblasting (I'll pay someone else to do that if I ever need it done again!), finishing up with Metal-Ready and POR15. I have a few rust spots in the interior floorboards to touch up and then I should be able to seriously start putting this car back together. Still some hope of completeing it in time for 'ragtop season' this year! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

ROFL!!! Guess I shouldn't complain about the snow - since I am supposed to be celebrating my anniversary this weekend I'm probably not going to make it out to the garage anyway ...
 
Just keep it "up there" where it belongs. We've had enuff of the "low fronts" from you guys. Fully 10° lower than it should be here now because of that...

I've been running a couple of propane "mtd on the tank" heaters while working in the garage (29x30). I still dress in a lot of layers, but it gets reasonably comfortable (stop seeing my breath) out there despite a lack of insulation, 10' ceiling, open attic stairs and leaky windows...

Of course, if you're creating a lot of flammible dust or gases, an open-flame heater may not be a great idea... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif

I have a couple of space heaters, but I hate turning them on when sandblasting is involved - I'm afraid of what the dust can do to those fan motors.

Maybe rig up a filter on the input side? In theory, it shouldn't be too difficult...
