Yes it does! I can't wait to drive my Bugeye again.....it's been waaaaay too long. The good news is I am finaly on the downhill side. I am so close to having her finished it's not even funny. Of course, I will be tearing her apart again this winter so it is only a temporary victory (I will be doing some minor body work and getting a nice fresh coat of paint). At least I will be able to enjoy a couple of months of nice weather driving.

Oh yeah.....bad news on my computer. I was not able to salvage anything off of my old hard drive, so all of my pictures were lost. Some good news is that a few of the pictures were still on my camera.....I hadn't deleted them yet. They are not as detailed as the other ones were, but at least it is something. I will post a few shortly.....I need to reload the camera software first.
 
you can find services in the back of the computer mags or on line that will get the stuff off of a bad HD.
 
If you are comfortable with plugging / unplugging drives and that kind of thing then sometimes you can put the drive into another working system and salvage files.

If it's not hardware failure.

If it is then sometimes the drive can be taken apart and the media read by another piece of hardware, that's usually a pretty costly venture. If you don't have copies of your pictures somewhere then it might be worth it.

People: back up your data. If you have a CD or DVD burner you can copy your files to that media. If not then there's free online storage, you can put data files on Google or Yahoo or any number of other places for free. Public libraries sometimes have public shares for patrons - ours just bumped up to 750 MB. It's not much but when you consider it as off site backup it's a great value.
With the replacement of traditional film media by digital people are not thinking about keeping copies in safe places nearly as much as they should. All your images can be gone in the blink of an eye, and digital copies are perfect - so make copies of all your pictures and store them somewhere.
 
Thanks for the suggestions guys. My dad is a computer tech and brought the hard drive to work and he couldn't get any of his machines to recognize that there was a hard drive present......something was/is seriously messed up inside the drive.

As far as backing up files.....yes, that is the best way to go. In all honesty though, none of my pictures were all that important, so losing thm really wasn't a big deal (most of the pics were taken for old eBay auctions I placed over the past year). It does suck to lose the pics of my car, but I can always take more! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Back to the Bugeye......I am ordering the steering rack stuff today, so I will have the Bugeye back on the road by next weekend. Just in time too....there's a big British car show coming up in 3 weeks!
 
Yea, and we want a full report of the car show with class pics and such.
