I finally got my newly rebuilt differential installed in a Sptifire. It is intended to got into the free '80 model I got from Paul Slice, but I put it in my Mk1 to check and make sure it was OK. The 80 won't be on the road for a few months at the earliest as the engine is still at the shop. What a relief to ride down the road with no whining or clattering from the rear end! This diff has a 3.63 ring and pinion and really lowers the revs at speed. A big difference from the 3.89. Oddly, I had not noticed such a difference going from the 4.11 to the 3.89. Problem is the Mk 1 doesn't have enough oomph to pull that gear. Now I need to find or redo another 3.89 for the Mk1.
