So I'm trying to tighten everything up on the subframe of the Wedge, now, the ball joint on the track arm the stud just spins so the nut wont tighten.
The nut I put on the outer tie rod is stripped now and just spins in place.
the other side started to do it too ,but was able to remove the nut and there was the metal from the nut spiraled around the threads.
Somebody doesn't want me to finish this thing.
Do I have to replace the tie rod ends and track arm ball joints again?
I need a :grouphug:

GAH!!!

Yeah, do-do occurreth.

P'raps a trip to your local NAPA and some MOOG replacements could solve it quickly?

Yep gree with DOC, and this time use a small bottle jack to put a load on the ball joint so it does not spin when you attempt to tighten it.--FWIW--Keoke

Don't ya just hate it when stuff happens to you and not someone else???

Keoke has the answer for 'wedging' the taper, an air wrench can be VERY helpful here, too.

I once told a neighbor kid who came to me with the same issue: "Sprinkle a bit of sand in the female side, push the ball-joint down as you tighten it!

...he thought I was nuts... But it WORKS!!!

Impact, jees, I can barely get a 19 mm wrench in there. Still only get about 95 degrees of wrench turn at that.
have tried the jack thing, with no luck, but after careful thought I think I need to jack it higher to put MORE weight on it.

...try th' grit in th' taper, Don...

Was feelin a little punky today after the trip to pick up the modified header. Maybe tomorrow.

Jacked it up a lot higher and voila! driver's side is tight. Not quite working with the Passenger side. Gonna leave the jack under it for a while to see if it will coax it down a bit.
Now onto the spinning nut on the tie rod.
