I'd just like to see you have fun shooting. If you're going to do "test shots", push the limits.
As far as I can tell, a photographer going by "LordV" never leaves his backyard. Doing some breathtaking macro work. Here is a link to some of his stuff.

Wow! One could get lost in those images. Inspirational!
The shots here are just the various (old prime) lens viability affirmation so far. The 90mm has been a very versatile tool in the past, hoping to use this "replacement" to good result as well. The 21mm T-4 mount was just an exercise at cleaning. Not as sharp an optic nor as useful as the DX zooms here now. Had it with me in Asia all those years ago, adapters for the Mirandas and a newly acquired (Base Exchange) FtN body.

I think he uses glycerin in the water drops to make them bigger. Definitely uses flash and focus stacking when possible. Some of the bugs probably wouldn't sit for a series of shots. There was another photographer on a long gone forum that made frozen soap bubbles. Not really something Doc and I can do in our areas.

To achieve the surface tension & adhesion with the water drops it would almost have to be glycerin. Thought I had some here but remembered it's 50 miles south! Used it to help with installing an E-Type windshield. Works great as a water soluble rubber seal lubricant. Next trip to the drugstore...
The flash issue may be better with "snooting" one of the Vivitar units off-camera, at 45Β° in front of and above lens line-of-sight axis. May have to experiment!
Freezing soap bubbles would seem like a real challenge for certain. Maybe a restaurant with a walk-in freezer and a sympathetic owner/manager? But I'm in Florida on purpose, just to escape the cold!
