Wiring Harnesses Issues

I have a 1960 Austin Healey Sprite MK1, I’m nearing the end of my full restoration. I’m at the point dealing with the wiring harnesses, all was good until I got to the Red / Red-White Wire. Studying the wiring schematic it seems the red-white wires attache to the back of the Speedo, tach and the fuel gage, but it also shows the black wire their also. So this is where I’m confused, if someone has a clear answer to this situation with the Red wires your help would be appreciated.

I'm guessing you're looking at the instrument light circuit, where the black wires are the earth/ ground wires for the bulb holders and the red ones are for the bulb power.

Thanks for your reply, when I look at my wiring schematic it’s showing a black wire to ground the gage and then it shows a red/white wire doing the same, this just seems wrong. This where I’m confused, and need a better understanding from someone that’s been through this before.

Have you been under the dash? The red/white wires are not actually attached to the gauges - it just looks like it in the schematic. In fact they are attached to the actual light bulb sockets - which are grounded through the gauge and the black wire. This picture is from my vauxhall (hence the plastic socket - your socket will be metal - but, the principle is the same. Hope this helps
