Wiring harness

I'm amazed where this project is taking me. I've had a good swap meet 1275 and 5 speed in the bugeye for 4-5 yrs now and have wanted a good(very little oil leakage) 1275 for the bugeye. So, last yr I made the decision to leap into a motor built for the SC from Moss. The next step was the car is going to be able to go quicker, I better upgrade the brakes, so I've cut out for the dual master pedal box and brace underneath. Well, the paint on the bugeye wasn't as nice as it could be, and the engine bay could be a lot nicer, so that was the next thing on the list. Yesterday, I went to the body shop, and the car is repainted all the way to the front suspension. It looks great. As I took off the front suspension, I was looking at the new paint in the engine bay, and the old wiring harness with all the sins of my 25 yrs of usage under the dash really didn't look very good, so I've ordered a new wiring harness. I hope to help finish the painting Sat. and bring the bugeye home either Sat. or the first of next week. Any thoughts when I start to take out the old harness and install the new. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

KC, take pictures, and make notes. The bugeye harness is a pretty straightforward swap. I think that was the first project Drew did on his, and he didn't have any problems, although it was his first time changing a harness.

I have a page up from my harness swap:

I used a harness from British Wiring and it went in no problem. They recommended getting a few extra connectors and the like, and they were right. Nice folks, worth a call for advice and parts. Bugeye harness is indeed very simple, and there is almost no interior to remove.

Do keep your old harness, as I did need one lamp connection from it. My car is still completely stock, so I just followed the wiring diagram in my Haynes book and everything fell into place.

I drew quick diagrams of all the switches and connections, and took pictures of how the routing worked. Took me a weekend, but I was working really slowly.
