Wiring Harness Extras

I am currently working through some new wiring harness issues. What do I do with the corresponding wiring harness wires if I don't have a cigar lighter in my dash?

I mounted a cigar lighter receptacle under the dash on one of the brackets using a heavy duty zip tie. It is virtually out of sight and is very useful for plugging in adapters for phones, gps, etc.

If you don't want a cigar lighter, you can just tap off those wires as unused. If you want to add one, an easy factory-look replacement is to put a standard cigar lighter socket in place of the washer pump button. The hole in the dash (on my bugeye) is exactly the right size)

I concur that the Bugeye dash washer hole is a perfect fit for a 12V DC power tap. I don't really care for the socket covers on the commonly available aftermarket kits. They have a cheap looking keeper. I'd like a nice hinged one like on my Explorer.

TexasSprite, that's a good idea, there must be some place to get those. I've seem them in GM cars too.

Have not see you post in a while. I think when I first got my car 2 years ago we were gonna try meet up somewhere. My car is disassembled for paint right now, but hopefully it will be back together by late spring. Current progress is in my blog. You ever go to Cars & Coffee? Are you a member of https://www.ntahc.org/? I've wanted to check them out for a long time, just never got around to it.

Hey David,

Sent you a PM!

By the way, I don't think I have ever seen cleaner parts than yours! Working with grease and grit free freshly painted parts is very enjoyable.
