Wiring Diagram Question

I've got a basic question on reading the wiring diagram. I assume that when looking at the diagram the view is of the back of the item, where the connection is made. An example would be the wiper switch on the bugeye. Near the botom right corner of the diagram (no.45 on the factory diagram) it shows the black ground wire on the left and the black and green hot wire on the right.Logically, I assume that is how the diagram is read and the position of the wires but I want to make sure before I get too far ahead and find out I have the wires installed wrong. I hate it when you blow the horn and the lights come on!!!!!!!!!

The wireing diagram is marked with numbers, 1, 2, 3, for the connections on the windsheld wiper. These numbers are also on the motor its self.

Green to 2

Black to 3

Black Green to 1

Actually I just used the wipers as an example. My basic Question is when looking at the wiring diagram, is it showing the back of the item, switch, motor, gauge, etc.

I don't think you can trust the figures on the wiring diagram to correspond precisely to the component they represent. I certainly wouldn't, even if they are supposed to do this. Too many in-production changes and too many aftermarket parts that don't necessarily correspond to the originals. As Jack sez, go by the numbers.

The backs of all the switches etc in the diagram have letters or numbers on them, go by them for connecting.

Trial and error, I have the rear harness in place and connected, most of the dash wires are finished also.I don't have a battery to check the connections yet. Debating if I should buy a battery now and test as I go along ( and then let the battery set all winter ) or wait till Spring to buy a battery.
