Wires to Tach on 78 Midget?

What wires should be connected to it and where do they go?
I've got a plug on one side that has a green wire on it.
This is a non working Smiths tach and my coil seems to be a stock unit.
I do have the Nissan 1500 in here.
Just seeing if my tach doesn't work because it's not connected or because of something else, never worked since I bought the car. Thanks!

That plug is the green wire that runs all over the place under the dash. Should be that one and one from the (-) side of the coil. I'm pretty sure the green wire is unswitched (+) 12V. That should be all you need. Others may confirm or prove me wrong though. Been a while since I pulled the tach out in my car.

I found this link that may help you. It isn't quite the diagram for yours but the tach should be the same. #64 is the tach I think.

JC - what happened?
Your post ended abruptly...

I went out today with the intention of finding & fixing the tach problem in my MGB and hopefully finding a way to get the tach in the Midget working.
The B was simple. The knurled nut holding what must be a ground wire to the body of the tach was loose. I tightened it and now that tach works.

On the Midget it was a bit more interesting.
I dug out several of my MG books, found a couple with diagrams of the tachs and the wiring, almost as good as pictures they showed the green wire with the female spade lug and the white with black trace wire with a round female bullet connector.

Near my tach was hanging a white wire with black trace and a female bullet connector. Back to the books.
Near the place where the green wire connects there should have been a connector for this white wire. So I felt up around there again, and sure enough there was a post.

Started the car, reached up behind there and touched the wire to the post:
Tach jumped up!!
Pushed the connector home & WhooHoo my tach is working!

I guess it really is the "little things" as they say, but this made me pretty happy.

Well done Rick. Good days effort.

Sorry about the incomplete post. Probably got interrupted by swmbo and forgot my place...lol. Glad you got it fixed.
