On my new (to me) wiper motor everything works fine EXCEPT the wipers park toward the pass side. Is this an electrical oops or a mechanical glitch. I can't remember if I changed the polarity before or after installing the wiper motor. Is it possible to put the wheel boxes on upside down or backwards? (New windshield in today, last strokes before it's ready for the highway and getting antsy.) Bob

On the wiper gearbox round cap there is a clamp ring around the cap that is secured by three screws. The cap has an electrical connector on it. Loosen the screws slightly & the cap can be rotated to park the wipers in any position you desire. It changes the position of the wiper park contact inside.

My mom used to say there are no dumb questions. Let me test her.

If the wiper arm does not park where you want it too, could you remove the arm from the (wheelbox?) and push it back on to where you want it to park?

Happy motoring!
Roger

Thanks, Dave, I'll try it tomorrow. Roger, no I can't move the arms, as it is set up now, it thinks it is a right hand drive automobile (which may be where this wiper motor came from)! Bob

Talk about dumb luck, after freeing up the wiper motor from the mounting bracket, I proceeded to loosen the four bolts holding the cover on the motor. Rotated the round cap some unknown number of degrees clockwise, maybe 95 or 100, and snugged the cover back up to "test" how close I was to parking correctly in front of the driver, assuming this would be a trial and error procedure. First try was PERFECT, couldn't do that again in a zillion years. Many thanks for the suggestion. That was the last roadblock before registration and DRIVING. Next week will be the first time this 100/6 will be on the road since 1983! Bob

If the wipers were parking on the passenger side, and now they are on the drivers side, have you changed the arms as well 'cause on my BJ7 the arms are cranked and they would need changing too.

Bob H, no problem with the arms, they were original. Wiper motor was NOS and possibly for a RHD auto. When you say "cranked" do you mean the tips are canted one way or the other? Mine are at a slight angle pointed the correct way. Bob

Yep that is just what I mean, you are now in good order then. I have the reverse, my car is ex USA and I need to do the same as you with the top and change the arms.
