Still waiting on my body work and paint to be finished! So I decided to work on some of the small peripherals this week. My wiper motor is one of the early DR2 domed capped setup's and worked excellent before I took the car apart. It was looking a little tatty so I took it apart to give it a proper cleaning and repainting the armature cover.
Question #1 What type of paint should the cover be painted with? It appeared to be plain old semiglass black, but I have seen on another car and in the manual what appears to be a textured paint. Is the textured paint correct or just an artist renditionin the manual?
Question #2 The wire going to the limiting switch had broken insulation so I decided to replace it. I soldered the connections well. The connection to the field post was tricky but I wound the coil wire and outgoing wire around the post well. I put the unit back together and tried to test it with my battery. It would not turn. I am fairly certain I placed the armatures in correctly. Any advice on what might be wrong or how I should wire it up for a test?
Question #3 Lubrication inside the motor, how much and what do others use?
