Well, the wiper motor works perfectly. $10, 2 hours, new brushes, new grease and I'm good to go. Here is my question. I did photo it for posterity. If anyone is interested I'll write it up.
BTW, someone mentioned that their wipers won't park. I suspect I know why. The switch for the parking mechanism is a spring loaded pin under the main cog gear. There is an indentation on the backside of the gear. When you shut off the wipers, they continue to turn until the pin engages the indentation, shutting off the motor in the correct position. In a best case scenario, the indentation is filled with hardened grease - as mine was. In a worst case scenario, the pin has worn out. The way to find out is to remove the whole unit and remove the cover followed by the main cog. Don't worry about taking off the arm that moves the spring that moves the wipers (unless you want to) Instead, on the outside of the case, there is the shaft (it's slotted) of the gear. It's held on by a spring clip. remove the clip (watch that it doesn't fly away as it is hard to find - don't ask me how I know) remove the gear and all should become clear.
