Another Newbie - My '88 XJS Coupe will be stored in an insulated but unheated garage for the winter. Had conflicting advice on how to store and would like to hear from those who face this issue every winter and their car survives /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF!!

Jag Man,
I use a carcoon, next best thing to a dry, dehumidified garage.
We have cold, damp winters like you, well maybe not as cold.
And a carcoon works for me. See them at.

Hope this helps.

An XJS needs a little different treatment compared to other more basic brit cars...Last winter I drove the XK8, but this winter it's gunna be stored...Hopefully in the next few weeks, I don't have the room to block it up in the garage so I got a spare set of rims with old tires to put on and I bought a tickle charger that charges the battery through the cigarette lighter, this will keep the battery up(removing the battery from these cars can cause a bunch of problems) I also hope to start it a few times as I am not as comfortable letting car this sophisticated sit for a long period of time as I would be with an MG. Really winter storage is no big deal, as long as it's indoors you should be fine.

I have the same space issue and can't put the car up so getting a spare set of rims makes sense to preserve the tires. I've just replaced the battery (Die Hard Gold- 820 CCA) so what type of trickle charger do you have or would you recommend?? I also plan on starting at least a few times during the winter as you suggested.

I got a small tickle charger from Canadian tire(Eliminator) I think it was about $50...My spare rims are a second set of original rims with Pirelli Snow tires, but the snow tires seem a little more resistant to getting flat spots(my p-zeros get flat spots in like 2 weeks) So I am gunna put those on it once I get it into final storage. Good luck!
