I've been wanting to put a third brake light on my 6 for sometime... one that could go on and off very easy and not be permanently attached to the car. I bought a Whelan strip light off of a police motorcycle, took some aluminum sheet, and channel and decided to make my own.
I mounted a one inch bar between the trunk hinges and slotted the sheet metal so it would slide in and lock down with two knobs. Hopefully you get the idea from the photos below.
Sorry for the quality of the photos in my garage... too much glare from the overhead lights.
Since you can choose about 7 or 8 brake light patterns, I have mine set to flash three times VERY FAST and then go to steady red while my foot is on the brake.
Here you go.......

Striplight off of ebay??

Steve

Steve-
Strip light came from ebay... glad to see you back!

Jay- The light is grounded to the case so I only have to run the pos into the trunk and have a single plug to connect.

Life...... hope all is OK with your dad.

yes thank you. He's actually doing better than he has for awhile. Doesn't have the pressure of maintaining that big ol' barn he was living in, he eat's more consistently here and so on.

All sounds good
