Probably old news to you guys, but I'd never seen one before.

Got a bottle of Schloss Vollrads Riesling, removed the aluminum cap, and found a glass stopper. Obviously not for a corkscrew; had no idea how to remove it - tried twisting, unscrewing, etc. No luck. Then just decided to try to pull it directly out. Worked perfectly. There's a thin plastic collar around the stopper, which seems to work well. Slight "pop" first time I opened it. Anyway - news to me.

And ... the riesling is *excellent*!

The more wine you drink, the harder it gets to remove the stopper. The good news is that you may not remember it.

Never seen one of those, either.

I find the last sentence more amazing than the "cork"

To me, that defeats the old saying,"PUT A CORK IN IT!" :highly_amused: PJ

Any white sweet wine is better secured with a non=breathable stopper. While we may not find them sexy, a screw top closure is the best option for Riesling and the like.

Red's on the other hand need to breath to finish. Hence the cork.

I have never seen a glass stoppper though. That's pretty cool.
