Tonight I attempted to remove the windshield from the Mk III.
Removed the four bolts from each post and knew there was a center bracket, I can see it but cannot figure how it's attached. I even went so far as to remove the posts from the windshield, it remained stubbornly attached at the middle, wriggling like a loose tooth.

Any suggestions?
 
There is a screw with some kind of expansion nut in the center of the bottom of the wind screen. I am probably way off but I seem to remember getting at it through the defroster hole under the dash but it has been a very long time since I had the wind screen off. Check the Moss catalog, it may have a picture.
 
That was it.

For future reference: there are two clips, one on each end of the padded dash. You have to bend them out of the way with a screwdriver. Then the dash panel lifts free attached at the front with two velcro squares.

Then the center windscreen bolt can be accessed.

The velcro pads are aftermarket.
The pad is held in place by the two bendable metal tabs, one on each end.
The center is held down by the two screws that hold the mirror in place.

Best of luck with the windscreen.

The interesting thing about the velcro is that I bought the car in 1976 and this is the first time I lifted the dash panel. This means the velcro was put on when the car was less than 10 yrs old. It surprised me to see it there.

Although the velcro may indeed be aftermarket, the product itself is contemporaneous with the car. I remember my mother and I shopping for shoes when I was a kid (lived in New York City) and buying a pair that used velcro rather than laces. I don't remember exactly how old I was but I couldn't have been much older than ten or eleven which would have made it around 1957-58.
 
Just for fun I looked up the history of Velcro.

Invented in 1941!!! Patented in 1955.

So it has a history as old as the 100.....cool.
