Hi,

My windshield wipers always sweep down when 1st turned on which would drag the blade across the paint below the windshield. What did I do wrong?

If it was a TR3, you'd have the park switch misadjusted.
 
Or you can use a screwdriver to 'jack" off the wipers from the splined drive cog and re-set them so they park low but not too low.
