Windshield wiper motor

I renewed most everything inside my windshield motor and wanted to paint the out side so it will appear correct. What color were the motors in the 1959 XK150's?

I recently read that the correct color for my 59 Mark 1, was black. This is for the dr3, which should be the same as used in the 150.

The body of the motor is black ,the end cap is aluminium and the nose is aluminium with the metal cover plate being galvanized

I have five NOS DR3 and DR3A wiper motors still in their boxes. Two motors are for MKIX's and are similar to XK150's. All of the motors have painted silver bodies with the aluminum pieces bare. The two MKIX motors are manufactured a few months apart (early sixties)and one body is silver hammertone and one is flat silver. FWIW.

I thought they were a "hammertone" silver body as well, with ends (bottom cap and gear-head) bare metal. I've seen black ones but seem to recall the first ones I ever saw as a silver "wavy" hammertone.

The XK140 wiper motor does have a black body. It seems to be a 'krinkle' finish but that is probably due to overheating.

Thanks to all. I will use the hammer tone on the rectangular motor body leaving the rest "white" metal. The end cap does appear to be aluminum as well as the transmission case. This is not a high points car, I just want it to look right/correct.
