Windshield Washer on a 1955 TR-2

OK, here's a question for the experts out there. Was the Anco "Big Shot" windshield washer assembly an option that a dealer put on these cars in 1955, or is it something that the first owner put on? The bracket assembly under the hood looks like it was made for the car, and I've found a replacement Anco assembly dated 1955 on Ebay. My washer button under the dash is dry rotted, as are the hoses going from the button to the bag. The bag itself looks OK. Opinions?

Thanks!

There were two suppliers of UK window wash units. Bothe were push the rubber bulb type. One was from TUDOR and I believe they came with a clear glass jar. Mine was installed by the dealer when I bought my TR3A brand new in 1958 in Montreal. It is a TRAFALGAR and had a whitish opaque (now gone yellow) plastic bottle slightly larger than the Tudor bottles I've seen. Since a washer was a dealer option, it may have been that the dealer who put it in for the original owner had an ANCO type handy. No TRA judge would be able to argue with you. But he may still think the ANCO unit is wrong and dock you a point in a concours.

I just found 2 complete washer assemblies on Ebay (ANCO) exactly like the one in my car. I'm bidding on them both, for a whopping total of 14 dollars! At least when I finish my restoration, that will be new...thanks for the information Don...
