Windshield washer container for Bugeye

I am looking at the Moss catalog.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the Bugeye windshield washer container that costs $53.80, and that is just for just the jar alone, and the entire unit which includes the container, foot valve, cap etc. for the later cars? I am referring to part numbers 361-245 and 361-148?

Perhaps the diameter of the jar?

Next question how do you brighten up one of those plastic jars? I tried a Scotcbrite pad and soaking in a little bleach, but didn't seem to make any difference.

assuming it to be the "tudor" style, a number of folk have got replacements from laboratory supply companies

I too was one of those people, that wanted everything perfect for my BE. Well the Tudor bottle is a little yellow, but it is the original. I stuck a label on it. I have one of the laboratory bottle that sort of looks the part, but I'll never use it. Do you want it?

Thank you for your replies, and for your offer, Scott. There are certainly a lot of things on my car that exhibit patina, and my car will never be what I consider to be a "restoration" particularly in the engine bay. I will leave that for the next guy.

But maybe I could sort of clean it up without trying to make it look like new. The thing really IS grungy. Your thoughts?

Its prettier than mine! I imagine you could carefully polish the brass outlet and maybe do a little more cleaning but, seriously, there is something to be said for "patina". I think the yellowing probably is deep within the plastic.

Mr Clean magic eraser will help clean it up.

Can anyone give specifics on the type of bottle to request at a lab supply store?

Be careful with the " magic eraser". My wife informs me they are abrasive though very effective.

Fellows, thanks for the input. I do enjoy the patina (you should see the rest of the engine bay). And I agree that the yellowing is deep within the plastic--it will clean up a little, but not much, so perhaps I'll just give it a once over lightly. I should probably pick up one of those new bottles from one of you, and put it back for the day when this one cracks.

Paul says he has a large number of them, wondered where thay all went. Now I know. LOL

They are starting to get to be hard to find in good condition and Miss Agatha's is just fine thanks.
