Jane's side broke so I ordered a new one. The outside rivet went in as it is supposed to, but the inside (the one in the thick part with the recessed cup) wasn't grabbing. Just before firing off an email to my supplier suggesting that the part isn't functional, I recalled hearing that some people stack spacers on the rivet stem. I tried one rivet washer and still no luck. Two rivet washers and pushing for all I'm worth resulted in the rivet catching hold. Just in case you are about to replace yours, 3 washers might be the way to go.

I had a similar problem when restoring the wifes 72. One side went ok, but for some reason the other side had slightly larger holes. The frame had no visors on it when I got it and I think when someone drilled out the old rivets to remove the visors, they over sized one set of holes. PJ

I used a big stainless-steel sheet-metal screw on both of mine. Worked great.
